Black CodHer

Coding Black Females and Niyo Enterprise are collaborating to deliver the Black CodHer bootcamp.

Black CodHer will support black women planning a career change.

The successful applicants will be working for a project that supports black women who meet the project criteria and are able to partake in a part time training programme. The course will run for 2 evenings per week, for 16 weeks (Front End) or  30 weeks (Full Stack).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the course, using the course content, two evenings a week (from 6pm-9pm) to a group of up to 20 women who have a passion for tech, but no experience
  • Assess and provide relevant feedback for students on assignments
  • Provide additional up to 3 hours of technical support during the week outside of the sessions
  • Track technical progress of the participants over the time of the programme

The course content will cover the following areas. We will have 2 cohorts, and each cohort will run 2 evenings a week:

  • Command Line & Git
  • HTML & CSS
  • Vanilla JavaScript
  • React
  • Node.js (Full Stack Only)
  • Intro to Databases (Full Stack Only)
  • Mongo Database (Full Stack Only)

The women on the Full Stack course will go on to build a web app

Who we’re looking for

  • We are looking for facilitators who are able to deliver some or all of the course.
  • Each will deliver the course on two evenings a week; Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday.
  • The ideal candidates will either be a software developer with experience explaining technical concepts, or have experience in facilitating technical courses.
  • Must have knowledge in at at least one of the following areas:
    • Command Line & Git
    • Python
    • HTML & CSS
    • JavaScript
    • Node.js
    • React
    • Databases (SQL and NoSQL)
    • Mongo Databases
  • A self starter who is able to plan, monitor and manage their own time and workload, and report their progress.
  • Able to motivate and challenge learners to enable them to achieve their learning outcomes and meet deadlines.
  • The course content will be provided, and you’ll have ample time to get up to speed before the course begins.
  • Competent with remote working technologies, such as Slack, Zoom etc

  • Rate: £50 / per hour of teaching time
  • Working Hours: The course will run between 6pm and 9pm Monday to Thursday. We’re happy to negotiate the days you work
  • Contract Length: Various

  • You will be paid on a monthly basis.
  • We are more than happy to consider applicants who would like to work 4 evenings a week for the duration of the course
