Trase is an innovative supply chain transparency initiative that shows the connections between global trade in key commodities and environmental and social impacts. It draws on vast sets of production, trade and customs data, for the first time laying bare the flows of globally-traded commodities – such as palm oil, soy, beef and timber – at scale.
Central to achieving this goal is improving how users access and engage with the Trase data and insights to improve understanding and drive greater uptake and impact on our target audiences. Data visualisation as well as data exploration and access tools, tailored to key insights and audiences is at the core of this work. We have pioneered the use of the computational notebook platform Observable to produce high quality production-ready visualisations (e.g. in our 2020 Trase Yearbook), to prototype front-end features and to democratise data access to our team and partners.
Trase is an initiative led jointly with the Stockholm Environment Institute and involving partners across the world.
We are looking for someone who is motivated and passionate about the power of data visualisations to increase the understanding of science. You will be a self starter and eager to innovate and develop our work on improving external and internal access to understand and visualise Trase’s rich data.Main responsibilities of the role:
- Data access and understanding
- Visualisation and Trase insights
- Work with team and partners
