Job Summary

 

An exciting opportunity to work at Imperial College London in the ICT department as a key member of the Research Product Line. Suited to someone with a background in supporting and enhancing existing applications and working as part of a team to deliver new solutions. This is a varied role and requires strong technical, analytical and soft skills, as you will work closely with Customers and Suppliers.

 

The College is a research-intensive institution and is one of the top 10 research institutions in the world. The ICT department provide researchers with a range of applications to manage their research outputs, including tools for costing research proposals, managing publications, managing inventories, booking facilities and reporting.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Working under broad direction with full responsibility for meeting technical, project objectives, establishing milestones and coordinating responsibilities with collaborating teams.  
As part of your day-to-day job, you will:
Develop ad-hoc technical solutions using development tools like Power Apps application, Unified Data Platform solutions,
Provide ongoing 2nd and 3rd line operational support. 
Perform business analysis and reverse-engineering existing solutions with a view to improve it or replace.
Prepare technical specifications.
Prepare change plans, manage changes and upgrades.
Application configuration.
Perform system testing and coordinate user acceptance testing.
Training yourself in new technologies like Databricks, Azure DevOps where necessary.
You will work with the Product Owner to identify product enhancements to maximise service quality, efficiency and continuity, leading on customer collaboration throughout all stages of work and ensuring users’ needs are met.
You will perform continuous improvement, identify and address additional service requirements or service shortfalls. 
You will manage customer relationships with respect to product engineering activities, making decisions which impact the success of assigned work.  
You will demonstrate leadership, facilitating collaboration between stakeholders who have diverse objectives. 
You will coach more junior colleagues sharing their experience and accumulated knowledge to help them develop.
You will proactively ensure security is appropriately addressed. Engage with security specialists and contribute to the security culture of the organisation.
