Base Salary up to £65, 490 (please note this is open to negotiation for the right candidate) plus an excellent benefits package.

Want a Summary of the Role?
The Solution Architect sits in the Customer Service Transformation Lab (CST) of the Consumer Servicing Value Stream. Our team is responsible for maintaining and developing all aspects of the IT Solution Architecture for this workstream.
Your day-to-day role would involve delivering end to end engineering designs, you’ll be responsible for delivering end-to-end engineering designs for initiatives impacting the retail banking applications and associated data integration. Heavy focus on the architecture elements required to ensure our platforms and software are crafted and built consistently with relevant patterns, practices and align to the target architecture.
Core purpose of the role:
Your contribution will be instrumental to our strategy of simplifying, future proofing, and de-risking the Retail Banking technology landscape, enabling the Bank of the Future and ultimately driving value for customers and shareholders.
Specifically, you’ll be:
- Responsible for delivery of engineering design work – High/mid-level solution design, Application Roadmaps, and leading architecture decisions through formal governance processes.
- Take ownership for the Application Architecture required by the CST Lab and associated design activity.
- Be responsible for the IT Roadmap, driving best practice initiatives.
- Ensure IT compliance and governance policies are met
- Act as a key point of contact for architecture related queries from customers, software engineers and security teams.
What we’re looking for:
You’ll have experience of crafting solutions for demanding partners, demonstrating diligence, insight, and willingness to challenge. This is a leadership role, providing direction for our Lab engineers, blending confirmed experience and deep technical expertise, and mentoring cross-disciplinary feature teams to deliver high quality maintainable software.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong stakeholder management.
- Understanding of colleague / assisted service channels.
- Knowledge of business process optimisation / workflow tooling and patterns.
- Broad understanding of technologies used in large scale banks (J2EE, API, Mainframe, Web/Mobile frameworks etc).
As a minimum to be seriously considered we’ll need to see evidence of:
- Prior experience in a solution architecture position.
- Good knowledge & experience of data heavy systems, i.e., data warehouse, cloud, or big data systems.
- Good knowledge & experience of Retail Bank systems and landscape.
- TOGAF or equivalent experience.
In terms of personal skills, you’ll want to be a keen and comfortable communicator who is happy working with a wide range of technical and non-technical staff. This would be a phenomenal role if you enjoy the intricacies of large-scale systems and want to work in an area with a strong sense of community.
