We are looking for an adaptable and highly motivated person to work with our technical support team at the Royal College of Art. 

To succeed in this role you will need a foundation in scripting, coding languages and/or game engines; to enjoy working with learners of all abilities solving ambitious projects within a mission driven team of technology specialists; and a drive for continuous learning and development. This new role will be directly involved in the support and provision of Games Development activities at all three of our campuses, including our brand-new Battersea South Campus.  This is a full time and permanent role – working 35 hours per week.

The Role

You’ll work with learners of all abilities to develop new Games Development projects and iterate on existing ones. You will have a passion to explore new and emerging technologies and the ability to steer and support students and staff in problem solving and finding technical solutions for complex and ambitious projects from ideation to end product.

You’ll join a diverse, close-knit team of talented and supportive individuals who openly share ideas with one another.

This role involves

-Knowledge and experience of using a game development platform such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
-Knowledge and experience of at least one of the following coding languages: C#, C++ or Python.
-Experience using Virtual Reality technologies.
-Experience of delivering in person technical instruction.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-The ability to use initiative and work as part of a team.
-Excellent organisational, time management, planning and problem solving skills.
-Excellent user focus and a flexible approach.
-Experience in the use of software development kits (SDKs) would be desirable but not essential.
-Experience of creating online learning materials is desirable but not essential.

Technical Instructors at the RCA need to excel in three key areas; Technical Knowledge, Helping Others and Administrative Processes. We will ask you to use stage four of the application process to tell us about your experience in these and other areas and describe your ability to perform in each.
