Website Visible
Building wearable technology for illness, not fitness
This is a full-time hybrid role in London with 2-3 days a week in our Spitalfields office. We offer visa sponsorship.
Salary range: £88,000 – £100,000 annually
We’re building wearable technology for illness, not fitness 💙
More than 100 million people globally are living with complex chronic illnesses – a number that continues to rise.
Most wearables are designed for optimising your fitness, not getting your health back on track. We are changing that with Visible Band 2.0 and our app.
By giving people tools designed specifically for chronic illness, we help them to engage in daily activities, reclaim a more active role in society and enjoy a greater quality of life.
Our mission is to make invisible illness visible.
We’ve grown from zero to >$8m ARR in 24 months 📈
Since founding Visible in 2022, our small, mission-driven team has achieved:
- More than 250,000 users
- Tens of thousands of paying and engaged members
- 5,000 app reviews
- 4.8-star rated
- $8m ARR in 24 months
We’re looking for a Senior Product Engineer to build Visible’s next phase
In the last year Visible has grown from 15 to 30 people, adding a data science team, Lead PM, Comms and Policy Lead, Director of Clinical Affairs and Research, and more.
Our product foundations are strong, the mobile app and other systems are in good condition, and now we’re looking for a Senior Product Engineer to help us go further.
Who you are 🌟
- You’ve built and maintained consumer Flutter apps used by thousands of people every day. If it’s not a Flutter app but you see yourself in the rest of the bullet points, we’d still love to hear from you.
- You’re proactive and motivated to build a product you can be proud of: when you see how we could make something better, you make it happen.
- You care deeply about building reliable, beautiful and accessible products. You’re motivated to use your skills to help the more than 250,000 people using Visible to manage complex chronic illnesses.
- You’re a T-shaped mobile developer who specializes in a couple of the following areas and is excited to get stuck into the rest: mobile UI (animations, charts, design systems, accessibility),
- Bluetooth/BLE and native integrations, mobile testing automation, and backend or web work when the product needs it.
- You’re comfortable with the pace and pragmatism of small mission-driven teams taking smart bets and learning as they go. You form views based on evidence and change them when the evidence changes, always in service of our members and our business.
- You have good judgement about when to craft the code yourself, and when to rely on an agent. You use AI to get more done in service of the mission.
Nice to have, but not a showstopper ⭐
- You’ve worked in health-tech or with wearables before.
- You’ve built AI-powered features into a product and have a feel for where LLMs genuinely help users.
What the job involves ✏️
- You’ll do a bit of everything, from crafting pixel-perfect pacing charts to building backend systems that handle the real complexity of a health product: personalisation and permissions, regulatory contexts, wearable integrations, and onboarding states.
- You’ll report to Dom, our founding engineer and Tech Lead, in a small, low-ego team of nine: two engineers, one QA (we’re hiring a second), two designers, two data scientists, and a PM. We’re ambitious about what we’re building and pragmatic about how we work.
- In 2026, our product strategy is focused on making our energy pacing tools smarter and more personalised, helping members actually understand what their data is telling them, and building the kind of product reliability that earns long-term trust.
- You’ll also help us build the engineering foundations to support doubling our member base this year: testing infrastructure, performance, HIPAA-ready security practices, and a mature design system.
- Day to day, you’ll find few rituals and a lot of flexibility. We trust engineers to manage their own time and focus.
- You’ll work within HIPAA and wellness regulatory constraints, so you should be comfortable with (or curious about) building in a regulated environment.
Our stack 📱
- Mobile app built with Flutter, with extensive native codebase (Kotlin, Java, Swift).
- Backend based on Cloud Functions (TypeScript) and Hasura GraphQL Engine.
- Most services run on GCP.
- Our current web presence is based on Webflow and Feathery, but we expect to spin up a more flexible in-house solution this year.
- We use GitHub, Firebase, Sentry and Linear for development; Mixpanel for analytics; and Figma, Slack and Notion for design and collaboration.
Our application process ✉️
- Submit your application via Welcome to the Jungle by end of day Friday 10 April.
- A 15 to 30-minute introductory call to learn more about you and tell you more about Visible. This will either be with Julia, our Head of Product.
- A 60-minute engineering interview to walk through your past work and experience with Dom, our Tech Lead.
- The final stage: a 60-minute pairing session with Dom and another member of the team, followed by a 30-minute values-based interview with Luke, our CEO.
We’re committed to running an accessible recruitment process. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to support you through the process.
Compensation and benefits 💙
- Generous equity package
- Enhanced pension (6% matched), enhanced parental leave, and compassionate sick leave policy
- 25 days holiday per year, plus bank holidays
- In-person off-sites – we’ve been to Budapest, Lisbon, Barcelona and Warsaw so far!
- Generous budget to access the latest LLM/AI tools (e.g. Copilot, Claude Code) so you can do your best work
- £1,000 annual learning budget for personal development
